Leadership Jacksonville was established in 1976 as a vehicle to stimulate the growth of leadership in our community. Currently Leadership Jacksonville has five major programs:
Leadership Jacksonville Program
Leadership Jacksonville (LJ) is a year-long program that explores the dynamics of an urban society, analyzes major areas of community concern, facilitates the development of leadership capacities and promotes a network of community trustees. The program is developed and created by teams of Leadership Jacksonville alumni and staff.
The LJ program actively solicits applications for this program from all sectors of the community. Selection for each year’s class is highly competitive. Criteria for selection include demonstrated or emerging leadership skills, active involvement in the community and a willingness to invest the time and energy required by the program.
New Leadership Summit
The New Leadership Summit is a unique program targeted for CEOs and Senior Level Executives who are new or relatively new to the community. During this two day orientation program, participants hear from and interact with key leaders of the community to learn about the assets, issues, institutions, and leadership of the region. Group size is limited to 20 to allow for meaningful interaction.
Youth Leadership Jacksonville Program
Youth Leadership Jacksonville (YLJ) is a program for youth that was founded in 1989. This year-long program is designed to identify a diverse group of high school juniors from the First Coast who have demonstrated leadership ability, and prepare them to become ethical leaders committed to active community involvement. The approximate 50 participants represent 34 schools in four counties - Duval, Clay, Baker and St. Johns.
Collegiate Leadership Experience
June 2005 marked the beginning of an in-depth community trusteeship program for college leaders who live in or attend colleges in Northeast Florida. The program includes an Opening and a Closing Retreat and three additional day-long programs. This is a truly collaborative program receiving generous support from the University of North Florida, Florida Community College at Jacksonville, and Jacksonville University.
School Leadership Connection
School Leadership Connection is a program for youth that was founded in 2000. This program brings leadership workshops into regional schools. Selected students develop community building skills and the capacity to assume leadership roles in their school and community. |
