RECONNECT EVENT... brings together Collegiate Leadership Experience and YLJ alumni with LJ alumni
The December 30th ‘Reconnect Event for our Collegiate Leadership Experience and Youth Leadership Jacksonville Class XIII through XVIII alums was a huge success. PATRON APPRECIATION RECEPTION
On January 21, 2010 forty-nine patrons of Leadership Jacksonville gathered at the River Club for a reception in appreciation of their support for the organization. Although a tornado had passed through Northeast Florida bringing rain and winds, these supporters came together to share in a delightful array of appetizers and to hear about the successes of our programs.
President Steve Canty shared some statistics about the ways that the programs have impacted the over 2000 participants.
Over the past nine years 420 graduates of the Leadership Jacksonville adult program were surveyed upon completion of the program. When asked which statements applied to them as a result of their participation in the program:
73% said they looked more closely at their own assumptions or beliefs
65% looked more closely at their own leadership style and
64% changed or expected to change the way they approach their
work/volunteer work.
86% of the Collegiate Leadership Experience graduates are more likely to live in Jacksonville/Northeast Florida becauseof their participation in CLE.
Ju’Coby Pittman, LJ ’93, spoke of the huge impact that her Leadership Jacksonville class members had on her personally. She also spoke about how the Class of 1993 helped her bring the Clara White Mission from a soup kitchen to community development center.
Three members of the Wilkinson Family, Linda, LJ ‘98, Gary, LJ ‘06 and Alex, YLJ XIX, spoke about the importance of the Leadership Jacksonville programs in passing on a legacy of community service. Ten members of this family have participated in LJ, YLJ and/or CLE.
