Formerly Next Generation (NextGen), Young Professional Leadership Jacksonville (YPLJ) is a NEW 12-week program that brings together entry to mid-level managers or those with under 15 years of professional experience across the Northeast Florida region. During the program, participants attend an Opening and Closing Retreat, three program days, and a structured one-on-one mentoring experience during the new annual spring timeframe of March through May. YPLJ combines skills-based leadership development with community education programming. The program empowers 40+ young professionals to accelerate their leadership journey by honing their skills and gaining insight into key community issues. 

Program Goals

  • Develop each participant’s unique strengths and refine their talents that shape their leadership style.
  • Create a personalized leadership plan to expand professional growth and deepen civic engagement.
  • Collaborate with civic-minded leaders to explore innovative approaches to leadership and meaningful community involvement.
  • Deepen understanding of Northeast Florida by engaging with the region’s challenges and opportunities.

Eligibility

Who Can Apply:

  • Serves in an entry-level to mid-level role within their organization, OR have less than 15 years of professional experience.
  • Have an interest in future leadership roles within their organization and/or community.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Approved from supervisor/employer to participate in the program.
  • Willingness to prioritize all program functions and workload.

Application Process and Timeline

Applications are open now through December 1, 2025.

Candidates who are considered for the Young Professional Program must submit:
1. A completed online application and a video submission 
2. A processing fee of $35
3. A letter of recommendation from the employer or mentor (who is not related to the candidate)

Candidates do not need to be nominated for the Young Professional Program to complete an application.

Each employer will be limited to a maximum of up to four participants.

Investment:
Program Tuition is $2,000

2026 Program Dates:

  • Friday – Saturday, March 20-21, 2026: Opening Retreat, MANDATORY in its entirety
    Mentoring One-on-One (between Retreat & Program Day 1)
  • Thursday, April 9, 2026, 9 am – 5 pm: Program Day 1
    Mentoring One-on-One (between Program Days 1 & 2)

  • Thursday, April 23, 2026, 9 am – 5 pm: Program Day 2
    Mentoring One-on-One (between Program Days 2 & 3)

  • Thursday, May 14, 2026, 9 am – 5 pm: Program Day 3
    Mentoring One-on-One (between Program Day 3 & Closing Retreat/Graduation
  • Saturday, May 30, 2026: Closing Retreat and Graduation
